Ears that appear to stick out and protrude, are misshapen and uneven, or look unnaturally large can negatively impact your self-confidence. Ear reshaping surgery (also known as otoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure that helps to recontour the size, position, and shape of the ears to create a more pleasing appearance. Dr. Husam Elias in Pasadena, CA has helped countless adults and children to move past their fear of showing their ears with this surgery. No matter the deformity, otoplasty at The Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery allows a patient to proudly show their face from any angle with self-assurance. If you or your child are concerned about the size or shape of the ears, contact us to schedule a consultation with Dr. Elias.

Otoplasty can be performed on patients of all ages; however, it is most common among children. If you or your child are self-conscious about the look and shape of your ears because they stick out or are too large, otoplasty can be considered to gain a more natural-looking appearance. Patients with damaged earlobes are also suitable candidates for otoplasty.

Otoplasty is performed using general anesthesia or IV sedation. Most often, the incision is made behind the ear or inside the inner ear folds. During surgery, cartilage will be manipulated to create a more natural appearance. It is usual for both ears to be addressed during treatment to make sure the end result is symmetrical. After the procedure, the incisions are secured with sutures and bandaged. When the procedure is over and it is safe to leave the outpatient surgery center, you will recover at home. Dr. Elias or a member of his team will send you home with instructions for recovery. Do not touch or scratch the ears after surgery. The patient should not lay on the ears and should sleep upright for several days. Dr. Elias will ask to see the patient within the first week — during this time, he will take off the bandages and assess the ears. Results are noticeable almost immediately and will continue to look better as the ears heal.

My experience with this office was absolutely stellar. Firstly, the staff welcomes you warmly when you arrive. Diana (doctor’s assistant) met me in the exam room.  Diana has a way of instantly making you feel comfortable and any nervousness you may be feeling is dissipated.... Because you can’t stop laughing. Then enters Dr. Elias.... He is extremely approachable, honest, and knowledgeable. It doesn’t hurt that he has multiple degrees. I am ecstatic that I found this business:

Dr. Elias pulled my wisdom teeth out like they called his mamma fat or something! Surgery was quick and basically painless. Didn’t need any of the pain meds and was back at work two days later looking like a snack. Diane was the nurse that took care of me for most of the process and she was so wonderful, kind, funny and sweet. If my wisdom teeth every grow back, I will definitely be coming back to Dr. Elias immediately. Thank you!
